Written By Rosie Fea 2018 In the early years of her career, contemporary jewellery maker Jessica Winchcombe realised she didn’t need, nor want, to be famous. A revolutionising premise that many others often take longer to come to terms with. Ironically, since she opted out of the rat race and aligned her priorities accordingly, the philosophical notion of surrendering the egos desperation to ‘conquer the world’ to instead live a life that feels true to oneself, has proved more than effective at bringing her prestige anyway… A string of successful events saw Jessica be a part of the Marzee Annual International Graduation Show in the Netherlands as a fresh graduate in 2011. Exhibition in Milan- during fashion week 2017

The exhibition in the heart of Milan was amazing, it was held in a beautiful space in a palace. The exhibition was during fashion week and it was really fun to see so many fashionistas and artists at the opening to celebrate with us. The jewellery displayed was really varied and it was interesting to be in a show with both super conceptual work next to commercial designs. It was very well curated so the exhibition flowed very well. At the opening, there were models wearing amazing jewellery walking through the crowds and champagne flowing the whole night. We had so much fun. The jewellery people were wearing was also like a whole exhibition of its own. It was so packed within the first hour we could hardly move there must have been over 500 people there. The speakers and awards were given out by the Vouge accessory editor and then an amazing Jazz band started to play and a line of men in white coats poured mountains of champagne. Burning the midnight oil getting the pieces together for the Italy exhibition.

I just have one week to go, and the work for Italy needs to be packaged and sent. I am making a lot of different work than usual and letting things develop organically, hoping that I can select an interesting body of work that is not matching perfectly. Each day new exciting things are evolving. I am also sending New works to Quoil gallery for the December exhibition similar to the earrings below.
