Wellington 29th April 2010 - Press release

Presenting “Embellish yourself” - a contemporary jewellery show by Jessica Winchcombe

Its rare that you will hear "I've never seen anything like this before" coming from the street wise art critic, but on this coming occasion you may just be lucky enough.

Jessica’s solo show in Thistle hall Gallery explores an extensive research and process development, which has become a signature feature in her work. Rewarded viewers are delivered a selection from the wild and prolific musings throughout an unashamedly irreverent media choice, which fortunately has been balanced with a well matured editorial process. The chaotic visual ramblings through various metallurgical exploration often married with soft luxurious textiles, can often betray the depth of meaning which exists.

At 27 Jessica, now finds herself in the final year of her Bachelor of visual art Degree, majoring in Jewellery at Whitereia polytechnic. A lover of travel and adventure Jessica has explored many career paths before she found Silversmithing. Skills gained in Brisbane, Australia were further refined in Brighton, England before her return to Wellington where she currently resides. The 8 major group exhibitions Jessica was involved in since 2008 are now to culminate in this her first solo show.

Jessica hopes that the many prolific creations which map the journey throughout her fine crafted work will, refresh your personal adornment perspective. This is no main street ramble, but a vision of brave couture embellishment which is sure to excite.

During the 25th – 29th of May, Jessica will be working within the space, expanding the range of her exhibited works daily. You are invited to come, meet Jessica, and adorn yourself...
